Development of Android-powered G1 a boost to HTC revenues and brand value, says CEO

HTC's development and rollout of the Android-powered G1 (HTC Dream) smartphone in cooperation with Google has brought in at least NT$20-30 billion (US$607.9 million) in revenues and brand value for HTC, company president and CEO Peter Chou has claimed.

The successful launch of the HTC Dream has also brought in new business opportunities for HTC and helped strengthen cooperation with telecom service providers, Chou added.

Unit sales of the HTC Dream in the US market have surpassed the one-million mark, and sales of the HTC Magic are expected to also top over one million units by July or August 2009, according to estimates by market sources.
