HTC to focus marketing efforts on US and China in 2H09

HTC (High Tech Computer) will focus its marketing on expanding its market share in the US and China in the second half of the year, according to company president and CEO Peter Chou.

New handsets launched in the US market in the second half will all bear the HTC brand so as to help strengthen HTC's brand image, said Chou, who also noted that HTC is currently the third-rank vendor in the US smartphone segment, trailing after only RIM and Apple.

For the US market, the company will launch 6-7 new models in the second half, aiming to sustain an annual shipment growth of over 50% to reach six million units in 2009, said Jason Mackenzie, vice president of HTC US.
