MTS summarizes the first year of 3G in Russia

The operator MTS summarized one year has elapsed since the launch of its first third-generation networks. First 3G network launched in MTS commercial exploitation of 28 May 2008 in St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan and Yekaterinburg. MTS holds regular work on expanding coverage and increasing the size of their existing 3G-networks. In the first quarter of 2009, MTS 3G coverage area for a total of Russia has increased twice as compared with the level of cover at the end of 2008. During 2008-2009, the investments in the development of 3G networks will be approximately $ 700 million. By the end of 2009, ITT plans to build a new and racshirit existing 3G network in more than 40 cities of Russia.

May 22, the company ITT Roscvyazkomnadzora received permission to start commercial operation in the first fragment of Moscow's in-door network «third generation» in the exhibition complex «Expocenter». The goal is that by the end of the summer of MTS 3G network will appear in major business centers, transportation hubs and public capital, including the airport «Domodedovo», in the area of «Moscow-City», Crocus City, World Trade Center , BC «Novinsky», «Alfa-Arbat-Center», «Lotte Plaza», shopping centers TSUM, «Atrium», «European», «Moscow», «Gorbushkin yard», IKEA. MTS has received permission to launch a network of «new generation», and also at the stations and the transport of the Moscow subway. Sokolnicheskaya metropolitan subway line will become the first in which MTS launches 3G network in test operation.
