Verizon Wireless Brings Mexican Soccer Icon Martin “El Pulpo” Zuñiga To Yakima, Washington For Youth Soccer Clinic
Marquette Stadium among 18 locations nationally that will host over 6,500 youth at free clinics; registration August 8-9.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Verizon Wireless and some of Latin America’s greatest soccer legends are teaming up during Verizon Wireless’ fourth annual youth soccer clinics in 18 U.S. cities throughout spring and summer. The Yakima clinic will feature a special appearance by guest athlete, former Mexican soccer player and goalkeeper, Martín Roberto Zúñiga Hernández, better known as “El Pulpo” (The Octopus) Zúñiga.
Leading the clinics will be legendary soccer clinic director “Soccer Tom” Mulroy, member of the first U.S. Youth National Team and official spokesperson for World Cup USA ’94. The three-hour clinics will include ball gymnastics, warm ups, ball control, overall soccer skills, and small sided games. Each participating youth will receive a soccer jersey, sports sack and water bottle.
Marquette Stadium in the city of Yakima will host the youth soccer clinic on Sunday, August 16th. Registrations for the free clinic are from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 8 at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 2401 S. First St., #136 in Yakima and from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 9 at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 335 Valley Mall Pkwy. in Wenatchee. Registration is limited and open to players five to 17 years old; the first 100 youth to register will receive a voucher for a soccer ball.
