Inventec to begin shipping smartphones to Europe in 4Q09
Inventec will begin shipping Windows Mobile-based smartphones to markets in Europe in the fourth quarter, marking a major milestone in the development of the notebook maker's OEM handset business, according to market sources.
Prior to the shipments of smartphones, Inventec has successfully ventured into the 3.5G data card business and has begun shipping the mobile devices to T-Mobile and Softbank Mobile, the sources indicated.
The company has also stepped into the development of Qualcomm Snapdragon-based mobile Internet devices (MIDs) but has not yet shipped the products, noted the sources.
