Clearwire and Sprint to Launch 4G in Major Cities throughout Texas, North Carolina and Hawaii

Kirkland, Wash.; Overland Park, Kan. – Clearwire Communications, LLC, an operating subsidiary of Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ: CLWR) and Sprint (NYSE: S) announced plans to launch their respective 4G mobile Internet services in additional cities in the fourth quarter of 2009. Each of the companies will offer 4G under their own 4G brand.
Clearwire and Sprint will each launch 4G service in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina; Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas in November. Service will be available from both companies in Honolulu and Maui, Hawaii in early December. Consumers and businesses should expect to see additional network expansions throughout these cities, and a wide-range of independent marketing and advertising initiatives.
The 4G customer experience from Clearwire and Sprint is unlike any other wireless service available today from any national carrier. Customers in these cities will now be able to increase their mobility and productivity in many ways: from instantly downloading large files to get work done on the run, browsing the web just like at home from across the city, or watching online videos and movies while travelling in the family car around town.
Clearwire and Sprint 4G customers can expect to see wireless service significantly faster than today’s 3G. Customers will also be able to purchase a wide range of 4G devices, including: compact USB modems, numerous Intel® embedded WiMAX laptops and netbooks, and other wireless devices all aimed at making lives in these 4G cities more mobile and efficient.

CLEAR™
Clearwire’s 4G service is branded CLEAR. CLEAR offers super fast mobile Internet service that works as fast on the go as it does at home. Customers will initially be able to purchase service online at www.clear.com, followed by retail store and dealer openings in the weeks to follow. Sprint 4G
Sprint’s 4G service is branded Sprint 4G. Sprint 3G/4G dual mode products available today combine Sprint 3G – the most dependable 3G network in the U.S.* with Sprint 4G, turbo-charged wireless connectivity faster than today’s 3G. With Sprint 4G, streaming video, fast file downloads and uploads and turbo-charged web browsing are no longer just home, office or coffee shop benefits. Clearwire 4G Markets in 2009
4G service is coming to several markets around the country, and services will be offered by different service providers, including Clearwire and Sprint in each market. By the end of 2009, 4G service is expected to be available in more than 25 markets covering over 30 million people in places such as: Atlanta and Milledgeville, GA; Baltimore; Boise; Chicago; Las Vegas;



Philadelphia; Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greensboro, NC; Honolulu and Maui, HI; Seattle and Bellingham, Wash; Portland and Salem, Ore; and Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Austin, Abilene, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Waco and Wichita Falls, Texas.

“Dependable” based on independent, third-party drive tests for 3G data connection success, session reliability, and signal strength for the top 50 most populous US markets (including PR) from January 2008 to July 2009. Not all services available on 3G and coverage may default to separate network when 3G unavailable.
