China market: China Mobile dominates handset-based e-mail services in 3Q09
China Mobile Communications, the largest mobile telecom carrier in China, was the largest provider of handset-based e-mail services in the China market during the third quarter of 2009, accounting for 72.26% of the total number of users and 77.91% of total revenues, according to China-based consulting company Analysys International.
There were 96.82 million users with total revenues of 386.4 million yuan (US$56.6 million) generated in the third quarter, Analysys pointed out.
Analysys also indicated that there were 1.777 billion registered users of instant messenger services in the third quarter, rising by 6.1% on quarter and by 21.0% on year.
