CHT signs LTE cooperation MOU with Ericsson

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has signed an MOU with Ericsson to jointly set up a small-scale LTE trial network in Taoyuan, northern Taiwan before March 2010. The trial network will be also used for interoperability testing of LTE CPE devices rolled out by Taiwan makers.

Ericsson will offer its LTE-SAE core network systems, two RBS6000 LTE base stations and five sets of LTE CPE for the establishment of the trial network, CHT said.

CHT also revealed that it plans to set up an additional LTE trial network with another network equipment supplier, and testing results from the two networks will be used to set specifications for its planned LTE networks.
