Chunghwa Telecom to set up joint venture in China
Taiwan-based Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) on December 15 announced a plan to invest up to 15 million yuan (US$2.2 million), through its subsidiary Chunghwa Investment, to establish a joint venture, tentatively named Sertec, in Xiamen, southeastern China, to provide call-center and system-integration service for enterprises operating there.
CHT said it will have a 49% stake in Sertec, its first investment project in China, while the remaining 51% will go to an information service provider owned and run by the Xiamen City government. The investment will need to be approved by the Taiwan government, added CHT.
