Wayne Park Appointed CEO, LG Electronics North America

James Shad Named President, LG Electronics USA; Eric Agius Named President, LG Electronics Canada.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. -- LG Electronics Inc. has named Wayne Park president and CEO of LG Electronics North America and James N. Shad president of its U.S. sales subsidiary, LG Electronics USA.

Effective Feb. 1, 2010, Park succeeds Michael Ahn, who is retiring as CEO of LG Electronics North America after six years at the helm. Ahn, who successfully established LG as a top-tier premium brand with 20 percent annual revenue growth, will serve as a senior advisor to LG Electronics.

Effective Jan. 15, 2010, Shad succeeds Teddy Hwang, who has been appointed executive vice president, global sales and marketing, for the LG Electronics Air Conditioning Company, which is being expanded to include LG's new solar renewable energy and LED lighting business areas.

Effective Jan. 1, 2010, at LG Electronics Canada, current chief operating officer Eric Agius has been named president, succeeding William Cho, who has been appointed head of LG's Australian subsidiary.

Park returns to North America after serving as executive vice president and head of the Korean market for LG Electronics. Previously, Park was responsible for the company's global business strategy, evaluated the marketability of emerging markets and reviewed new business items as executive VP, corporate strategy.

He joined LG Electronics in 1982 and has worked in a variety of positions in North America, including president of LG Electronics Canada, vice president for LG's U.S. Zenith subsidiary, and vice president for LG Electronics USA. He also led LG's successful worldwide digital TV marketing, with a major emphasis on related activities in the United States.

Shad has been LG Electronics' executive vice president and chief go-to-market officer since June 2008, responsible for developing best-in-class customer and shopper practices around the world. With three decades in consumer product management at Procter and Gamble and Novartis Consumer Health, Shad brings broad experience to his new role as president of LG Electronics USA.

Over the past 18 months Shad created LG's first dedicated go-to-market enterprise. His mission was to transform the capabilities of LG subsidiaries and business units to elevate LG's customer and shopper interaction model and improve the company's trade promotion activities. In his prior role as chief customer officer for Novartis Consumer Health, Shad redesigned the company's customer structure and practices, leading to unprecedented growth. At Procter and Gamble, he developed customer and market strategy innovations leading to record sales, profits and industry recognition.

Agius, the new head of LG Electronics Canada, has been chief operating officer for LG Electronics Canada since April. He joined LG after a 14-year career with Nike, most recently as president and general manager of Nike Canada.
