More Taiwan, China companies join OHA

More companies in Taiwan and China, including Foxconn International Holdings (FIH), VIA Telecom and China Telecom, have recently joined the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), boosting OHA membership to 65 companies, according to OHA data.

The participation of the EMS firm FIH, handset solution vendor VIA Telecom and telecom carrier China Telecom indicates that the Android-powered handsets will create a new wave of business opportunities in 2010, said sources at Taiwan handset makers.

Taiwan-based handset solution vendor MediaTek is also expected to join the OHA soon, the sources indicated. HTC, Acer and Asustek Computer have already joined the OHA.
