Quantance Appoints Lon Christensen as Vice President of Engineering
Christensen to Lead Development and Expansion of Quantance Radio Frequency Semiconductor Solutions.
SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Quantance Inc., a fabless semiconductor company enabling faster data speeds and better data coverage, announced Lon Christensen has been appointed the company's vice president of Engineering. In this role, Christensen will lead the engineering development team and have responsibility for expanding the technology feature set of Quantance's product line, launching new products, and readying the technology for high-volume production, including implementations in conventional Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS).
"Lon is an industry expert who is perfectly suited to join the Quantance team at this stage in the company's development," said Vikas Vinayak, Quantance's CEO. "His technical expertise combined with his experience in product development and successes in bringing products from concept to mass production will have immediate impact as we move into mass market deployment of our innovative RF transmit chain efficiency technology."
Christensen was vice president of engineering for Quorum Systems, Inc., a fabless wireless semiconductor company he co-founded in 2002. In 2008, Quorum Systems was acquired by Spreadtrum Communications, Inc. for $76 million. Christensen remained at Spreadtrum, serving as CTO and vice president for RFIC for the company's U.S. division. Here he was integral in establishing Spreadtrum's varied portfolio of complementary radio transceivers for all of their baseband products in both domestic and international markets, and he led the design team whose products were ultimately shipped in volume by Samsung Electronics.
Earlier in his career, Christensen was a senior RF systems architect at National Semiconductor (formerly Innocom Wireless) and held RF design engineer positions at Solectek Corporation and Torrey Science Corporation. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology.
