Huawei Launches SingleRAN@Broad Solution Enabling Profitable Enhanced Mobile Broadband Services
Accommodates 1,000 fold increase in mobile broadband traffic over the next decade.
Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, announced it will unveil a new mobile broadband solution, called SingleRAN@Broad, at Mobile World Congress 2010. This solution will accommodate the tremendous increase in mobile broadband traffic, reduce the per-bit cost by over 95%, and make mobile broadband services more profitable for operators worldwide.
Today, mobile broadband services are growing exponentially, but operators have not yet been able to convert this into significant revenue streams. Huawei estimates that global data traffic on mobile broadband networks will grow 1,000 times over the next decade, from the current 85 million Giga-bytes per month in 2009. As the number of mobile broadband users continues to climb, subscribers will increasingly look for low tariffs with unlimited, high-speed access and abundant mobile broadband service, while operators will need network capabilities that allow them to accommodate the expansion pressures of mobile broadband network and profitable operation mode.
"Huawei' s mobile broadband solution addresses the challenges faced by operators, by simplifying the network structure and breaking down the barriers between different standards and technologies. SingleRAN@Broad enhances the end-user experience by accommodating the expansion of network capacity and radically reducing the cost per bit," said Wan Biao, President of Wireless, Huawei.
Huawei' s SingleRAN@Broad solution enables operators to:
Handle increased data traffic.
SingleRAN@Broad helps operators compete for the increased mobile broadband traffic through Huawei' s multi-layer network coverage topology, full frequency broadband ability, and a highly efficient use of the frequency spectrum.
Reduce the per-bit cost.
SingleRAN@Broad offers a series of technologies that reduce the per-bit cost in sites and transport and operation and maintenance (O&M), such as multi-mode convergence, ultra coverage, fixed and mobile synergy and intelligent operation.
Enrich user experience.
Based on different user grades, service, times and locations, SingleRAN@Broad' s dynamic QoS (Quality of Service) and QoE (Quality of Experience) adjustments address varying user, service and scenario needs, further enriching reliable subscriber experiences.
Since 2009, Huawei has accumulated rich experience on mobile broadband deployment. For example, Huawei has helped 36 operators to deploy HSPA+ network. Huawei' s ePico/ Femto is the only such product to provide a true end-to-end solution, currently fulfilling the needs of 40+ operators worldwide. Huawei' s LTE serves over 60 operators, and ranks No 1 of all the suppliers. Furthermore, Huawei' s SingleRAN solution has been served 30+ operators for commercial use, accommodating operators the convergence of multi-mode mobile networks.
In 2008, Huawei addressed multi-mode convergence at an equipment level with 4th Generation BTS platform. In 2009, the solution was expanded to address network convergence with SingleRAN, which enables operators to achieve full convergence of multi-mode wireless networks, including equipments, sites as well as operation & maintenance system, helping operators largely reduce network TCO and improve operation and maintenance efficiency. In 2010, Huawei' s SingleRAN@Broad will enable operators to compete for rapid increase of mobile broadband service flow, reduce per bit cost and improve subscribers' experience to promote the robust growth of mobile broadband industry.
