CECT-Chinacomm signs for WiMAX cooperation with Taiwan makers

China-based mobile broadband service provider CECT-Chinacomm Communications has signed MOUs with five Taiwan-based network equipment and service companies, including Accton Technology, Alpha Networks and D-Link, for cooperation on WiMAX network infrastructure and services.

Accton, Alpha, D-Link, along with Phihong Technology and eASPNet Taiwan, will help CECT build broadband wireless Internet-access (BWA) service networks in China.

CECT-Chinacomm is setting up BWA networks in 12 large cities in China with more than 10,000 base stations in total. The BWA networks will be completed in three years, and CECT-Chinacomm will procure WiMAX CPE (customer premises equipment) and service from these Taiwan-based companies.

The Taiwan-based companies have been chosen as partners because they have supplied products for WiMAX operators in Taiwan, CECT said.
