LHS RECEIVES GLOBAL TELECOMS BUSINESS INNOVATION AWARD

* LHS receives Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award

LHS, part of the Ericsson Group (NASDAQ:ERIC) and a leading provider of telecom billing and customer care systems across the wireless, wireline, and IP telecom markets worldwide, received the 2010 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award for Business Service Innovation. Now in their fourth year, the GTB Innovation Awards honor innovative projects involving telecoms operators and service providers around the world, in association with their vendors and suppliers. The awards ceremony took place at the London Park Lane Sheraton Hotel on the evening of June 7.

In front of an audience of more than 300 industry leaders from around the globe, LHS was honored for its outstanding collaboration with UAE telecommunications provider Thuraya. The solution – based on BSCS iX, LHS’ leading-edge end-to-end billing and customer care system – boosts innovation and efficiency throughout Thuraya’s operations, supporting services in 110 countries around the globe.

The project significantly increased operational efficiency as 64 instances of legacy systems were successfully migrated to one instance of BSCS iX. A single consolidated data base and web-based customer care improve ease of operations and response times for CSR services. Now, 70% of all enquiries at Thuraya can be completed in the first call.

Moreover, the solution enables fast deployment of innovative content & data services and service bundles while reducing process duplication so Thuraya can quickly launch new products tailored to each market’s requirements. Consumers benefit from one consolidated bill covering all their services. Multiple invoice formats suit each country’s needs while currencies and taxes are tailored according to local regulations.

“LHS is very pleased to receive this award as it honors the substantial benefits we provide to our customers’ businesses,” said Wolfgang Kroh, Chief Executive Officer at LHS. “Based on product excellence and the close cooperation throughout the project, our solution has exerted a significant impact on Thuraya’s ability to sustain and strengthen its market leadership”, he concluded.

Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business, commented: “This is the fourth time we’ve run our Innovation Awards and each year we’ve seen that the industry is working harder and harder to deliver exciting and innovative services to its customers worldwide. Congratulations to all the award winners. The industry is seeing a wave of innovation which is making a huge difference — to the companies working in the industry and to all of us in business and as consumers. They are making such a difference to the world. We want to celebrate what they are doing.”
