T-Mobile pulls its G2 Touch Android 2.1 preparatory update
T-Mobile UK has withdrawn its release of the first part of the two-part Android 2.1 update for the G2 Touch, which is the network’s name for the HTC Hero, citing reports that some users had a few problems with it.
We certainly noticed quite a few people having trouble getting the preparatory update to work – with many users only getting so far as a warning triangle flashing at them telling them something had gone a bit wrong during the upgrade process.
Here’s what T-Mobile said yesterday:
“Recently we released a minor maintenance update for the G2 Touch and we have noticed that a small number of customers were experiencing issues when installing this. After investigating this we have decided to temporarily remove the update. As soon as our investigations are complete we will let you know when the maintenance update will become available”

Not particularly useful if you’re stuck with a G2 Touch staring back at you with an alert triangle. But if you are in that situation, there’s a useful thread on how to fix things over on T-Mobile’s forum.
