Android 2.2 [Froyo] Begins Rolling Out to Select Motorola Droid X Units
Well, well, well. What do we have here? It would seem as if Android 2.2 [Froyo] has begun rolling out to a few select Motorola Droid X units. Case in point, an Engadget reader apparently received an Android 2.2 OTA update on its Motorola Droid X [pictured]. In addition, My Droid World claims to also have screenshot of a Droid X running Froyo. Now, don’t get too excited just yet, as this might be just an initial test release. You know, to make sure that the update doesn’t cause any issues.
However, it’s important to take into account that AndroidSPIN reports that one of their Verizon Wireless sources has indicated that Android 2.2 will be rolled out almost simultaneously to the original Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid Incredible, and thew new Motorola Droid X beginning next Friday, August 6. It’s said that the upgrade process for all devices should be completed by August 15.
