Chunghwa Telecom to set up wholly own subsidiary in China
Taiwan-based Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) on July 27 announced that it will invest US$6 million to establish a wholly own subsidiary in China.
Since China has not yet allowed foreign enterprises to operate telecom services, the subsidiary will provide information and communication technology services which do not need a telecom operating license, such as smart energy saving, 3G mobile value-added and intelligent transportation management, for the time being, CHT said.
Sertec, a joint-venture operator of call-center service in Xiamen, southeastern China set up in December 2009 by CHT's subsidiary Chunghwa Investment and a company run by the local government, kicked off operation earlier in July 2010, CHT indicated.
