HTC to keep Dopod brand in China in the short run

Smartphone vendor HTC is expected to keep both the HTC and Dopod brands in China in the short run, according to the company.

Although HTC just officially launched its own brand on July 27 2010, it has been selling its smartphones in China for several years under the brand name of partner Dopod. The Taiwan-based company reportedly will soon introduce new models under the Dopod brand despite the HTC introduction.

During its launch event in Beijing, China, HTC introduced two TD-SCDMA smartphones - the Tianxi and Tianyi - which will be sold via carrier China Mobile.
