J Touch to step into ITO glass-based capacitive touch panels

Taiwan-based touch panel maker J Touch will announce its new production capacity expansion plans and details in August, including its plans for production lines for ITO glass-based projected capacitive touch panels, and the company expects the new capacity to start revenue contribution in 2010, according to company chairman Yeh Yu-Chou.

J Touch is the second largest ITO film-based capacitive touch panel supplier in Taiwan. The handset segment is the target application for its products with Samsung Electronics and HTC being its major clients, and the company has recently gained orders from Nokia and Sony Ericsson, the company noted.

J Touch currently has a monthly capacity of six million panels, and shipments of resistive touch panels accounted for about 60% of its total shipments in the first half of 2010, while capacitive touch panel shipments accounted for 20-30%, the company added.

J Touch was listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on July 27, with a price opening at NT$57 (US$1.77) per share and closing at NT$87.
