Surge in Interest for IPX Direct Billing Services
Growth in application stores and smartphones has seen interest in IPX’s global direct billing Services reach new highs.
Ericsson IPX has started to see a considerable growth in interest around its direct billing services. The company has always included non-premium SMS payment Services in its strategy but thanks to the proliferation of more advanced phones, increasingly service aware consumers and the popularity of Apple’s App Store and the Android Market, direct billing has become more desirable to content providers. Since IPX revamped its direct billing Services which cater for mobile, web and in-application payments, the company has been able to provide a truly global offering thanks to the integration with Global Identification. “The timing of our decision to update our direct billing offerings has proved to be just right,” said Richard Anell, VP Head of Sales Ericsson IPX. “In doing so we put ourselves six months ahead of the competition and as a result, several of our major customers are now deploying direct billing over multiple markets.”
For in-application payments, direct billing creates a better consumer experience and also makes it easy for application developers to add quick and simple ways for consumers to buy additional content in application. Direct billing can also be used for the purchase on in-application content such as new vehicles for use in a car racing game, all through a single click, and without the fuss associated with entering credit card details. In-application payment can also be used as part of mapping and information services. In addition it enables pay-per-play models that re-create the recurring revenue business model of the games arcade.
For some services, this process doesn’t require the user to have their mobile phone to hand or even turned on and can all be done from a desktop or laptop computer. An increased layer of security can also be added to the process with a confirmation code being sent to the consumer’s phone using the Ericsson IPX Web Opt-In service. Direct billing uses no Premium SMS or WAP billing flow.
Ericsson IPX is currently providing this service in Australia, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the US, while some similar services are also available in China, Italy, Spain and the UK using IPX’s online payment services. IPX has experience of regulation and direct connections to an unparalleled number of operators leaving it best placed to provide enterprises with a simple and painless payment method for their customers. And local support teams makes us highly suited to delivering these services to our users.
