Ericsson has signed 54 managed services contracts in 2010 alone.

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has won the Network World Middle East Award for ‘Managed Service Provider of the Year,’ presented at a ceremony held in Dubai. The ceremony, attended by key players from the regional IT industry, honors innovative and transformative networking projects in the Middle East and the vendors behind them.

Staffan Åkesson, Head of Managed Services for Ericsson in the Middle East and northeast Africa, says: "We are honored to have received this award. It highlights our strong portfolio and achievements in managed services for networks and IT. We see the uptake of managed services as a developing trend in the region and a key to operators’ success here, enabling them to be in a far stronger position to dedicate critical resources to their core business operations, increase efficiency and improve network performance."

Ericsson’s managed services offering allows operators to have a long-term operating partner, giving them the chance to refocus their resources on the customer experience while reducing costs typically 20 percent and improving time to market. Ericsson has signed more than 300 managed services contracts in more than 100 countries. By teaming up with Ericsson, operators can strengthen their competitive edge through improved network availability and capacity, while reducing their operating costs. This, in turn, increases market growth for mobile services, which helps improve the quality of services and the end-user experience. In 2010, Ericsson signed 54 managed services contracts globally.

The Network World Middle East Award is one of several internationally recognized honors that Ericsson’s managed services offering has received. In 2010, the company was named ‘Prime Driver of Managed Services Growth’ at the China Telecommunications Awards and also received the prestigious Frost & Sullivan ‘Managed Services Provider of the Year’ award for Asia Pacific in 2009 and 2010.
