Siberian MegaFon starts testing MIMO technology
Siberian branch of mobile phone operator MegaFon said that due to significant improvements in all of its infrastructure network, it greatly speed up data transmission services using the technology of HSPA +. Single-threaded applications and Internet services (web surfing, watching Youtube, etc.) are now available in one flow rate to 5 Mbps (formerly of about 2 Mbps). The client software that supports working with multiple threads (P2P, Bittorrent, Flashget), will be able to use simultaneously more than 3 streams, substantially increasing the overall speed of downloads.
The operator also noted that in late April, his technicians began testing technology MIMO (Multiple Input - Multiple Output). Installing the base station transmitter allows an additional signal is divided into two parts, submitted in parallel to the modem user. Thanks to the MIMO technology is already there is an opportunity to 2-fold increase in 3G-speed Internet to 28.8 Mbps, and even 42.2 Mbps. The emergence of MegaFon Modem E367 with support for MIMO technology is expected to be released this summer.
