Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor Snapdragon will support Windows 8

Qualcomm has announced that it will collaborate with Microsoft to promote Windows OS 8 on a family of Snapdragon platforms with processors having ARM-architecture. First on the market will be the chipset MSM8960, which has a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. Samples of the platform later this month will begin to ship in the manufacturers towing parties. According to representatives of Qualcomm, the chipset is the first dual-core solution with support for 3G/LTE modems and meets the requirements of multi-tasking for the next version of the operating systems Windows. Cores can operate asynchronously, allowing them how to achieve maximum performance and save battery power.

Following the dual-core platform Snapdragon MSM8960 followed Quad Snapdragon APQ8064, examples of which will available to producers in early 2012. As well as dual-core version of it, each core will have the ability to dynamically control by the operating system Windows. The architecture of this processor is called Krait and will reach a clock frequency of a nucleus in the 2.5 GHz and up to 150% of productivity growth at 65% less power compared to modern ARM-processors. Both platforms are created by working together with the Windows operating system 8, which is designed for processors with x86 and ARM. In this case, of course, and Snapdragon MSM8960, and Snapdragon APQ8064 will work with other operating systems.
