Samsung Galaxy S2 hits 3 million sales
The Samsung Galaxy S2 has sold three million units worldwide, making it the Korean phone-maker’s fastest-selling handset to date.
According to Samsung, its debut dual-core smartphone hit this landmark figure in just 55 days – which equates to two Galaxy S2 handsets being sold every two seconds. Its Galaxy S sibling has also been put to shame, which hit the 3 million figure in a lengthier 85 days.
What’s more impressive is that the Samsung Galaxy S2 hasn’t even reached the US, so the majority of the sales have been in Europe and South Korea.
Still, this isn’t surprising. Since it was release back in May, the Samsung Galaxy S II has enjoyed glowing reviews from the world of tech – scoring 9 out of 10 in our hands-on testing. Part of this success comes from its whizzy performance, thanks to its 1.2GHz dual-core processor. This is coupled with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus, and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS.
Simon Stanford, Managing Director, Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “The Galaxy S II is our most advanced smartphone to date and has been a huge hit with customers. This latest sales milestone reflects how devices from our Galaxy range continue to exceed expectations, thanks to a combination of superb hardware, the latest OS and the greatest and most relevant content.”
