MTS and the administration of the Krasnodar region announce strategic partnership

Operator MTS and Administration of Krasnodar Region reported the signing of the X International Investment Forum in Sochi investment agreement, under which in 2011-2014 MTS to invest in network development in the region of over 10 billion rubles. Until 2014, MTS plans to provide 3G network in Krasnodar territory region, where more than 95% of the population. In all the cities in the region modernizes the MTS network of UMTS to the level of HSPA +, that allows residents to use data services at speeds up to 21 Mbit / sec. Regional centers of Krasnodar Region will be provided with high-speed Internet at speeds up to 14 Mbit / sec. Also planned to increase the capacity of the existing network and launch of third generation networks in remote and difficult in terms of covering the edge of settlements. In 2012, MTS intends to complete the project on construction of fiber-optic network in the Krasnodar region with a total length 3750 km. In a single transport network in the region will be included Labinsk, Kurganinsk, Armavir, Taman Temryuk Krymsk, Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Timashevsk, Yeisk, as well as large village edge, which will significantly increase the speed and volume data as well as a more reliable network with redundant channels. Currently, the region completed 310 km of backbone network. As part of the investment project only for the years 2011-2012 to develop the network in the Olympic capital Sochi will invest 1 billion rubles. Until the end of this year, the capacity of 3G network in Sochi and the MTS area will be doubled. Also, in preparation for the Olympics, with MTS, projects to monitor passenger, truck and construction equipment. Under the agreement, the company also provides for the implementation of the program of professional adaptation of students and graduates of the Krasnodar Territory. Within three years of MTS in the Krasnodar region regularly innovative competitions and arranges internships for talented young people in the region. MTS is the leading mobile operator and a strategic investor in the region: between 2008 and 2010 under a similar investment agreement with the regional administration in the development of technological infrastructure of Kuban including the construction of 3G networks and fiber-optic transport networks, invested over 7 billion rubles. MTS became the first operator that launched the 3G network in the Krasnodar Territory in May 2008. Today, almost 70% of the area covered by the bond 2G, also provided a network of MTS "third generation". Services in 3G networks are also available in the mountainous districts of the region, such as Absheron, Tuapse, Goa, where a number of communities have difficulty with the fixed internet access.
