Vodafone Romania gives even more Opera Mini

Today, at the Webstock event in Bucharest, Vodafone Romania and Opera Software launched a co-branded version of the Opera Mini mobile browser as a part of an extended global agreement between Vodafone Group Services and Opera. In addition to the existing Opera Mini version offered by Vodafone Romania, the new special version is now available for download for over nine million Vodafone subscribers.

The special version of Opera Mini provides a better and faster browsing experience for all mobile phone types, as well as instant access to favorite websites on the go. With its new Speed Dial shortcuts, users will be just one click from Vodafone Romania’s unique set of services and popular local websites, such as Vodafone Live and Libertatea.

“The new co-branded version of the Opera Mini mobile browser is the next step in our strategy to provide our users with the best tools, applications and content for their mobiles. Now, Vodafone users not only have the best network and the fastest mobile Internet, but also a more efficient way to stay connected to the online environment,” said Dragos Chivu, Director, Data Marketing, Vodafone Romania.

Romania is one of the largest countries for Opera Mini usage in the European Union. With its unique compression technology, data cost savings and user-friendly interface, Opera Mini has experienced rapid user and page-view growth in this country in recent years.

“Nothing can stop the mobile web boom. By expanding our partnership with Vodafone Romania, we aim to bring the mobile Web to the next level, with a new set of features available for all types of mobile phones,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “We are excited to bring even more consumers in Romania to this mobile surfing level, so please fasten your seatbelts.”
