Samsung introduced a new quad-core processor for mobile devices

The South Korean company Samsung Electronics introduced today, as she claims, the industry's first mobile quad-core processor applications, built on the energy-efficient 32-nm technology HKMG (High-k Metal Gate - a metal gate with high dielectric constant) - Exynos 4 Quad.

New quad-core architecture is based on the ARM CORTEXTM A9 and running for at least 1.4 GHz, while possessing high performance and low power consumption, thus providing maximum efficiency for smart phones and tablets. The new processor, according to the company, has a two-fold increase in productivity and 20% consume less energy in comparison with its predecessor - four dual-core Exynos Dual, manufactured on 45nm process technology.

In addition, the new processor has a built-in hardware video codec HD able to read and play back Full HD (1080p) video at 30 frames per second, signal interface processor that provides high functionality for cameras and HDMI 1.4 interface for transferring multimedia content.

Exynos Quad 4 is currently in a stage of mass production and will be working on a new flagship smartphone the company, whose announcement will take place in early May.
