LG is working on its own 8-core chipset for LG Optimus G II
The company is developing a successor to the LG its most powerful smartphone LG Optimus G. Model, conventionally called Optimus G II, is to be shown in the third quarter of this year, so to talk about any specifics just yet. But resource Korea Times has reported one interesting detail - the device will be built on the chipset of its own design, as well as a similar decision earlier Samsung and Huawei. Odin platform carrier name will be an eight. This solution will be similar to that used Samsung 4 +4 core, which is quite logical, as to ensure continuous operation of eight cores is unlikely. Contract manufacturer will make the Taiwanese company TSMC. Chipset LG Odin will be built on technology ARM big.LITTLE, which involves the use of four core Cortex-A15, built on 28-nm process technology, and four less energy nuclei Cortex-A7. The idea of the system is based on a balanced approach to energy consumption. For the current problems will be less powerful but more economical combination, and for the "heavy" - the most productive. So far, unfortunately, not possible to assess this approach to design in practice, since devices with chipsets big.LITTLE in the commercial market are not available. Representatives of LG promise in the next year to show the whole family of similar gadgets. Probably refers to the tablets.
