MTS and Nokia Siemens Networks will jointly develop fourth-generation network

The mobile operator and one of the world's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturers Nokia Siemens Networks announced the signing of an agreement on the joint development of the telecommunications infrastructure, and cooperation in the construction of 4G networks in the Moscow region and the Central Federal District of Russia.

As part of a three-year contract MTS will use Nokia Siemens Networks equipment for the construction of high-speed mobile Internet networks LTE FDD. Nokia Siemens Networks will provide construction, planning, integration and optimization of radio networks, as well as the supply of software and hardware for the switching network. MTS in the Moscow region and Central Federal District implements the concept of a single radio access network (Single RAN), in which on the basis of one possible construction of infrastructure networks of multiple communication standards. MTS 2G, 3G and LTE TDD in these regions are based on the hardware Nokia Siemens Networks, and new LTE FDD network will be an evolution of the MTS MTS infrastructure.
