Company J'son & Partners Consulting presented Rating Russian telecom market by the end of 2013, noting that in 2013 the Russian telecommunications market size reached 1635 billion rubles. Market growth amounted to 6%, a decrease compared with 2012 by 1 percentage point The downward trend continued in the dynamics of the following years - the average annual growth in 2014-2018 gg. will be 4%.
Low growth market sources attributed the exhaustion of extensive growth in all major segments traditionally been market drivers:
Mobile penetration in Russia has exceeded 166% based on the SIM-card and 110% based on active subscribers.
Number of broadband subscribers exceeded 27 million, penetration has reached 49%, while in major cities it reaches 60-80%, and often more than 50% in urban regional scale with fewer than 500 thousand people.
Pay-TV market penetration at 55% rapidly slows their dynamism. If in 2012 the growth of subscribers amounted to 17%, in 2013 - only 9%, and in 2014 is expected to further slowdown to 6%.
In addition, the general market dynamics negatively affects the continuing decline in the fixed line market: every year in Russia becomes less at 0.8-1 million subscribers local telephony and long distance and international traffic continues to call "flow" in a network of mobile operators and VoIP.
Under saturation conditions the largest market segments, significant changes in the structure of industry revenue growth by segment is expected. More than half of revenues accounted for cellular communication. This segment is growing faster than the rest of the market, mainly due to the services of mobile Internet access. As a result, by 2018 to Cellular will account for nearly two thirds of the market.
Segment private users retain anticipatory with respect to the corporate market dynamics. In the current environment, there remain opportunities to attract new subscribers to an internet access and pay-TV, as well as increase profitability by bundling services. In the corporate sector, the major perspectives related to the provision of IT services, not formally included in the scope of the telecommunications market.
In the mobile segment remains the potential growth in the corporate sector - by attracting new users and expand the range of services provided, and the private sector - primarily at the expense of services based on mobile data. Meanwhile, experts iKS-Consulting expects that revenues from the private segment will grow somewhat faster than from enterprises and organizations.
Due to outperform the segment of private users to consolidate its dominant position - in 2013 it accounted for 70% of revenues telecommunications industry, and by 2018 its share will be 74%. The leading role of the private sector ensured the predominance of individuals in major market segments, especially in the mobile segment, where private customers account for 88% of revenues.
Almost 80% of the Russian telecommunications market forms the "big four" - "Rostelecom" MTS "VimpelCom" and "Megaphone", present in all major segments of the communications industry.
In terms of market saturation and finalizing its oligopolistic nature of the main sources of growth for operators to attract subscribers become competitors, building networks in cities with low competition and the development of the provision of ICT services and packaging services. The key task of the major players in the coming years - to become a universal service operators that provide a wide range of services based on mobile and fixed networks.
