Samsung starts distributing Samsung Z2 in Indonesia. More apps to the Tizen store

The Samsung Z2 was launched in Indonesia last week and the ads were all over the TV and social media in the country. However, despite the launch a large section of potential customers in the country reported that the phone was nowhere to be found in the local market. The news has reached all the way to Samsung Indonesia who have now replied that the Z2 will be distributed officially to its retail partners starting today. The device will be sold for a price of Rp 899,000.

Samsung also announced that the Z2 will support all every 4G LTE network in the country. This list also includes the telecom operator Smartfren which employs Band 3, Band 5 and Band 40. However, Samsung have only made carrier billing option available for another telecom operator called Telcomsel and hence users from other network will have to rely on credit cards for buying paid apps from the Tizen store.

The Tizen store, which is now fully functional in Indonesia is reported to be receiving a lot user requests for popular apps like Blackberry Messenger(which is apparently actively being used in Indonesia) and the viral game Clash of Clans. Currently, the Tizen store has over 6,500 apps out of which 2,700 apps are specific to the Z2 and 1,600 of these apps will be made available for Indonesia initially. A recent app development competition held across major cities in Indonesia has resulted in a total of 209 apps being developed by Indie developers for Tizen’s smartphones, wearables and GearVR content (Unity based) 133 of these apps are specific to the Tizen mobile store.
