MediaTek to see better-than-expected sales in December, says paper
Market observers expect MediaTek's handset chip shipments to have a 5-10% sequential growth in December and its consolidated sales to reach over NT$5 billion (US$153.05 million), beating the company's expectations, a Chinese-language United Daily News (UDN) report cited.
But MediaTek has reiterated its guidance that December sales will decline 30-33% from November's NT$6.2 billion, the report noted.
According to the observers, MediaTek's handset chip shipments in December will increase from November, while some of the orders have been delayed to January 2009, the paper said. In addition, inventory levels at MediaTek as well as China handset makers are low, so any rush order for Lunar New Year will help narrow the decline in MediaTek's December sales, it added.
