Tatung chairman reveals development of Android-based smartphones

Taiwan-based IT company Tatung has stepped into the development of Android-based smartphones, although the company has yet to finalize its product roadmap, according to company chairman WS Lin.

Tatung is likely to push handset sales through its affiliate company Tatung InfoComm, one of Taiwan's six WiMAX licensees that will kick off its commercial WiMAX services on the Penghu islands later this month. Tatung InfoComm also aims to attract over one million WiMAX subscribers in the next five years.
