MediaTek and China Mobile to strengthen cooperation on TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE technologies
Taiwan-based IC design house MediaTek and China-based carrier China Mobile will strengthen their strategic alliance in the deployment of TD-SCDMA technology and will also cooperate on TD-LTE technology, according to MediaTek. MediaTek chairman Tsai Ming-Kai and China Mobile chairman Wang Jianzhou met on August 26.
Tsai said MediaTek will continue to provide high performance-to-cost, high stability and highly integrated solutions to help commercialize China Mobile's TD-SCDMA products.
More than 60% of China Mobile's TD-SCDMA products are based on MediaTek solutions, according to market sources.
China's TD-SCDMA handset demand is expected to increase five-to-tenfold in 2010 to 20-40 million units, the sources added.
