Handset PCB makers see order visibility through 1Q10
Compeq Manufacturing, Unimicron Technology and Unitech Printed Circuit Board have seen order visibility extend to February 2010, but hold mixed outlooks for the upcoming quarter.
Compeq estimates its utilization rate at 70% for the first quarter of 2010, compared to 50% typically seen in the first quarter, according to the company. Compeq's performance for the upcoming quarter is likely to defy seasonal trends.
In addition, Compeq expects orders from the mid-range and high-end segments to start bringing in solid contribution to its financial performance in 2010, the company said. Compeq posted its second straight quarterly losses in the third quarter of 2009.
Both Unimicron and Unitech said they may feel the impact of seasonality in the first quarter, with orders expected to decrease 10-20% sequentially.
Unimicron expects revenues for first-quarter 2010 to drop by a range similar to those usually seen in the first quarter, according to the company.
Unitech said it has seen a decrease in orders from the smartphone and high-end phone segments. Revenues for first-quarter 2010 are likely to drop sequentially in line with falling orders.
