Pantech Vega Secret Up Announced – Privacy Protection and Interesting Sound Features
Back in November we’ve found out that Pantech might be ressurected, thanks to thesuccess of the Vega Secret Note phablet. The company has been able to push more than 200k Secret Note units in just one month (quite a lot given the handset’s limited availability), and the phablet became Pantech’s hero device.
Shortly after these reports we’ve also learned that the company was planning on expanding the “Vega Secret” line-up by the end of the year, in order to keep the momentum going. Unsurprisingly enough, the manufacturer has indeed unveiled a new smartphone, dubbed the “Vega Secret Up”. The handset in question delivers your regular full HD display and all that top-tier goodness that you’d expect, but that’s actually not all there is to it. Pantech Vega Secret Up Gets Unveiled
In a nutshell, the Vega Secret Up is a pretty standard top-tier smartphone. It features a 5.6 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a 13 MP main camera, a generous 3,150 mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. The handset weighs 173 grams and arrives in two flavors: black and white (the white model is apparently 1 gram heavier, for some reason).
But, as mentioned above, the Secret Up has some aces up its sleeve. To begin with, Pantech has emphasized greatly on the handset’s sound features. The Up delivers “Free Lossless Audio Codec” 24 bit/192KHz audio and the Qualcomm DRE technology (dynamic range enhancement). Additionally, the handset’s flip case (which is sold separately) is said to enhance the audio experience by acting as a speaker.
The case vibrates and reacts to different sounds and volumes, and Pantech claims that the case is able to amplify sounds in the same manner that a concert hall does.
Another interesting feature is the Privacy Protection display which prevents people (aside from the user, of course) from seeing what’s happening on the display while viewing it from the side.
Last but not least, the fingerprint technology that is to be found on the Vega Secret Note will also be present on the Secret Up.
All that being said, we’m actually hoping that the Up will go on sale on the western market as well. This is quite an intriguing device and we can appreciate the effort Pantech is putting in its latest smartphones. Kudos!
