Sony Ericsson at CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment:


Sony Ericsson is holding a Java™ ME-focused seminar track on October 23, 2007 at CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment in San Francisco, USA. Sony Ericsson's Java ME expert will explore the new JSRs available in Sony Ericsson's Java Platform 8 (JP-8) which supports Mobile Services Architecture (MSA), the next-generation Java umbrella standard (JSR 248).

What: Christopher David, Java Expert at Sony Ericsson, will review the Sony Ericsson Java Platform model, how it has evolved and where it is today with the new Java Platform 8. The seminar will look at the new technologies available in JP-8 including:

- MSA (JSR 248)
- OpenGL ES (JSR 239)
- Sensor API (JSR 256)

In addition, Christopher David will highlight some of lesser-known features offered by JP-8, in particular, Location Based Services. The capabilities provided by the Location API for J2ME (JSR 179) will be reviewed, including using it as an alternative means to query location and how location data can be applied to build compelling location based services.
