New dynamic presentation of streamed mobile TV content Developers' Guidelines
Sony Ericsson offers the possibility to present and consume streamed mobile TV content directly from the Media application in the phone, without the need for Web browser solutions or third-party applications. New Developers' Guidelines outline the solution for dynamic presentation of streamed mobile TV content on Sony Ericsson mobile phones, such as the K660 and W890, and also describe the complete setup for the server solution to deliver streaming video.
The solution is based on open standard syndication technologies and enables the end-user to browse and consume TV content in the same manner as any local content with the same user experience.

The streamed mobile TV content Developers' Guidelines are divided into two sections – architecture and implementation – with code examples as an appendix. Here's an overview:
Architecture
The Sony Ericsson solution for streamed mobile TV content is built in two parts: content presentation and delivery. TV content is presented in a multi-level tree structure and is found in the Media application menu on the phone by selecting TV and Net Channels (see screenshots to the right).
The phone downloads the files according to a configurable scheme using the Sony Ericsson DSL protocol which is designed to handle dynamic presentation of TV content in the Media application. This protocol is entirely built on the open technologies of RSS, OPML and HTTP. Delivery of this TV content is based on the 3GPP PSS (Packet Switched Streaming) standard using RTSP.

Implementation
The implementation section outlines the configurations that need to be managed by the TV service provider, both mandatory and optional configurations. The appendix includes OPML and RSS file code examples.
Mandatory configurations:
- HTTP server for OPML files
- HTTP server for RSS files (RSS 2.0 specification)
- Streaming server
- Customizing the settings
Optional configurations:
- Provisioning
- DSL traffic separated from other data traffic
- Security handling
- Subscription handling
