Management shake-up may lead to a shift in business focus for China-based Amoi
China-based Amoi Electronics may shift the focus of its business from mobile phones to PC systems following the recently resignation of the company's president Li Xiaozhong, according to sources at Taiwan handset makers.
Amoi announced earlier this week that Li had stepped down as president of the company due to personal reasons, the sources quoted media reports from China as indicating.
However, sources at Taiwan handset makers argued that Li might have been forced to step down after Amoi posted accumulated losses of 460 million yuan (US$64 million) in the first three quarters of 2007.
Meanwhile, Amoi has appointed Lu Zhenyu, a former top executive of TCL Computer, as its new president, the sources said.
Since Lu has been a veteran in China's PC industry, Lu may shift the focus of Amoi's business to PC systems, according to the sources.
