China mobile phone user base nears 540 million in November 2007
There were 539.38 million subscribers of mobile communication services in China as of the end of November 2007, growing by 1.49% on month and by 18.54% on year, according to statistics published by China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) on December 28.
The number of subscribers at the end of November accounted for 39.9% of the country's population (user density).
Also at the end of last month were there 369.31 million subscribers of fixed telecommunications in China, translating into a user density of 28.3%.
In November of this year, mobile phone subscribers in China sent 51.31 billion text messages, averaging 3.19 messages per subscriber a day.
