Keypad maker Silitech set to see strong shipments growth in 2008
Taiwan-based handset case and keypad maker Silitech Technology is set to see its shipments grow robustly in 2008 now that it has established business ties with all of the world's top-five handset vendors, according to sources at Taiwan component makers.
In addition to existing clients: Motorola, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and Sony Ericsson (through Flextronics indirectly), Silitech managed to add Nokia to its client list in 2007, with orders from Nokia acting as a shipments growth driver, the sources indicated.
Silitech is expected to land more from orders from Nokia this year after the Finland-based vendor replaced Motorola to become as Silitech's largest customer in 2007, contended the sources.
In terms of shipment volumes, Silitech was ranked as the number one vendor in the global keypad segment in 2007, accounting for a 17.8% share, according to sources at the company. However, Silitech's ranking retreated to second place in terms of sales value, trailing Japan-based Shinetsu, the sources noted.
