MTI and Tecom expect future revenues increase

Telecoms equipment maker Microelectronics Technology (MTI) is expected to see an increase in its second-quarter revenues, while new orders should help Tecom to also see a boost, according to sources at the companies.

MTI expects its second quarter revenues to surpass those in the first quarter and see an annual growth of 15-20% from the NT$1.6 billion (US$53 million) recorded in the second quarter of 2007, according to sources at the company.

Market watchers estimate the company's March revenues may have a chance to break historic records at around NT$700 million, but the company has responded in saying that since March orders are still shipping, it is hard to determine actual performance. However, the company did confirm that revenues in March are already better than February's NT$633 million.

In addition to previous WiMAX equipment orders, Tecom has recently received femto cell base station orders from an international equipment vendor which will start shipping at the end of the second quarter, with contributions to the company's revenues to appear in June.
