Taiwan market: Motorola to launch more high-end handsets in 2H08, say sources

Motorola is expected to launch more high-end handsets in the Taiwan market in the second half of this year, including its first 5-megapixel camera phone, the ZN5, and GPS-enabled models, according to market sources in Taiwan.

Models likely to be launched in Taiwan in the second quarter are mostly successors to its current series phones, including the Rokr E8 which succeeds the E6, Rokr Z10 for Z8, Q10 for Q9, and the second-generation 'Ming' handset, the sources noted.

To compete with Nokia and Sony Ericsson, Motorola's forthcoming sliding form-factor 3.5G handset, the Z9, is expected to come with GPS functionality, the sources speculated.

Motorola on March 19 launched its second-generation Pebl handset, the U9, in the Taiwan market. The U9 features an OLED touch-screen, a 2-megapixel camera and rich music functions.
