Compal Communications revenues down almost 34% on year in April
Compal Communications posted revenues of NT$3.32 billion (U$108.9 million) in April 2008, up 23% on month but down 33.8% on year, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
For the first four months of 2008, revenues reached NT$12.84 billion, a decline of 36.9% from a year earlier, TSE data showed.
In other news, Compal Communications handset shipments in the second quarter will be flat at the 10.7 million units it shipped in the first quarter, the Chinese-language Commercial Times has quoted the company as saying.
However, Compal Communications is expected to see its revenues improve substantially in the second half of this year due to shipments to new clients, including shipments of CDMA handsets to Nokia starting in the third quarter, and smartphones to Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Sony, the paper added.
