South Korea-based KTF reportedly interested in investing in Vibo Telecom
Korea Telecom Freetel (KTF), the second largest mobile telecom carrier in South Korea, on July 7 had its representatives talk with Vibo Telecom, an operator of 3G mobile communication services in Taiwan, signaling that KTF is interested in taking a stake in Vibo, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
Vibo completed raising additional paid-in capital of NT$5.0 billion from domestic investors in late June 2008, with two existing major shareholders Compal Electronics and Kinpo Electronics equally sharing the amount, the sources indicated. Vibo plans to further add NT$4.0 billion to its paid-in capital by the end of this year through attracting foreign investors, and has been negotiating with a few targets, including KTF, the sources pointed out.
