Cisco announced its intention to acquire the company Jabber

Cisco announced its intention to purchase Jabber, a supplier of software for functions, presence and messaging. After the merger with Cisco, the company, based in Denver (Colorado), will be the increased responsibilities of the presence and messaging that are already in Cisco products for group work. This acquisition will enable Cisco to include these functions directly into the network and thus provide users with opportunities aggregation in the offices and other locations on demand on different platforms, including Cisco WebEx Connect and Cisco Unified Communications.

Jabber offers customers carrier-class platform for functions presence and messaging. Jabber technology is based on open standards and maintains a well-scalable architecture that provides aggregation of data for the presence of a variety of devices, users and applications. The technology works with a variety of systems, including Microsoft Office Communications Server, IBM Sametime, AOL AIM, Google and Yahoo!. The platform Jabber is considered the leader of the market for such indicators as reliability, scalability, expandability and global distribution.

The acquisition of the company Jabber happening in the innovative strategies Cisco "build, buy, and partner" ( «self-development, acquisition and partnership»), which provides quick access to new markets and the use of all advantages that arise during major market changes. Financial terms will not be disclosed. The deal should go through the normal approval procedures and harmonization of regulatory bodies. It is expected to be completed in the first half of 2009 fiscal year (in Cisco, he started on 1 August 2008).
