Huawei Demonstrates Continued Commitment to the Development of WiMAX Technologies

[SHENZHEN - China, 24 September 2008] Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that, in the second quarter of 2008, it delivered 55 standard proposals to the IEEE 802.16m, more than any other vendor, and that it submitted 568 proposals to the WiMAX Forum, the second largest number of submissions by a single company.

"Being one of the most active members in our standard organizations, Huawei is actively engaged in promoting the development of the WiMAX ecosystem and regularly contributes to WiMAX industry standards." said Mr. Jim Carlo, CWG Secretary of WiMAX Forum and IEEE Fellow.

Huawei began investing in IEEE802.16 standard technologies in 2000 and became a member of the WiMAX Forum in 2004. As an active industry member, Huawei previously served as chairman of a number of work groups within the WiMAX Forum including CSN MM (Connectivity Service Network Mobility Management), Data Integrity, and ROHC (Robust Header Compression). In 2008, the WiMAX Forum, on behalf of NWG (Network Working Group), awarded Huawei the Outstanding Contribution Award in recognition of the company's role in developing WiMAX technologies.

"As one of the few players with a compelling end-to-end offering in the industry, it is natural that Huawei plays an active role in helping to shape the direction of emerging technologies through technical standards bodies, such as IEEE and WiMAX Forum. We are committed to leveraging on our strong research and development capabilities towards further developing WiMAX technologies, delivering benefits across the value chain, " said Mr. Zhao Ming, President of Huawei CDMA & WiMAX Product Line.
