IC distributor Chip Hope to provide turnkey touchscreen handset solutions

IC distributor Chip Hope has developed capacitive touchscreen handset turnkey solutions, combining Spreadtrum Communications' chips and Elan Microelectronics' touch panel modules, targeting the market in China, according to the company.

In addition to the turnkey solutions, Chip Hope will also provide related software to customers, meaning handset makers will only need to add the casing before shipping their handsets to the market, the company said. Clients are expected to start marketing their handsets with the Chip Hope solutions at such China retailers as Gome Electrical Appliances and Suning Electronics this year, said the company.

While the touchscreen handset turnkey solutuions are meant for the smartphone segmnet, Chip Hope will not give up on the white-box handset market, the company added.
