MTS and Huawei announced a partnership to build a 3G network in Armenia
The operator MTS has announced the selection of the company Huawei Technologies as a supplier of equipment for the construction of a network of MTS 3G standard UMTS in Armenia.
Huawei will supply «Vivacell-MTS» base station controllers, and the third generation. Specialists Huawei will have a whole range of activities associated with the construction and launch the network in operation, the integration of 3G network with the existing network in the Republic of GSM, as well as technical support to organize the operation of 3G network and the transfer of expertise of the MTS.
The commercial launch of 3G network in Armenia is scheduled in spring 2009. The first of the 3G network will be deployed in the cities of Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor.
In Armenia, will be built combined 2G/3G network using existing sites for base stations, without stopping or a substantial reconfiguration of the network GSM. UMTS subscribers will be able to enjoy all existing at the moment in the 2 / 2, 5G-added services.
